1. How do I choose the right borehole pump?Don’t want to scroll? Contact us now — we’ll guide you through the pump selection process in minutes. ✅ If you’d prefer to understand how it works: Selecting the correct borehole pump depends on multiple key factors like borehole depth, water yield, usage demand, pressure and distance to the tank or point of use. Keep scrolling through this FAQ to see the questions we usually ask to make sure you get the perfect pump for your needs.
-
2. What is the most important information needed to select a borehole pump?We typically ask the following: How deep is the borehole? How many litres per hour can it produce? How many litres per hour or per day do you need? Where is the water going – to a tank or used directly (irrigation, house, etc.)? What is the elevation and distance from the borehole to the tank or house? Is any piping already installed, and what is the pipe size? Is there any existing infrastructure like tanks or filters? What is the water being used for – irrigation, residential, or industrial? Has the water been tested (e.g., high iron, salt, clay, etc.)? 📥 Downloads: Want more technical details? Download our Borehole Pump Specifications to explore available brands, models, and performance ranges.
-
4. Why is borehole depth important for pump selection? The depth of your borehole determines how much vertical lift (head) the pump needs to handle. For example, a 40m deep borehole needs a pump that can handle more pressure than a 50m borehole. We calculate total dynamic head (TDH) based on depth plus horizontal distance and elevation to the tank.
-
5. How do I estimate borehole yield if I don’t have a test report? If no formal test was done, observe how long it takes to fill a known-size tank (e.g., 500L drum). We can calculate approximate liters per hour or minute from that. Your borehole’s sustainable yield helps us select a pump that won't over-pump and run dry.
-
6. What if my pump needs to supply both a tank and irrigation system? In that case, we’ll design a dual-purpose setup, possibly with: A borehole pump to fill a storage tank A pressure pump or VSD pump connected to the tank for irrigation or pressure needs This setup protects the borehole pump and ensures proper flow and pressure.
-
7. What happens if the pump is too powerful or incorrectly sized? An oversized pump may: Pump faster than the borehole can replenish Cause dry running, damaging the motor Create excess pressure, increasing wear on pipes and fittings A properly matched pump saves energy, extends pump life, and avoids unnecessary maintenance.
-
8. Does water quality affect pump selection?Yes. If your water has: High iron or sediment/silt → use a full stainless steel pump (plastic impellers can get damaged) Clay or fine debris → install a controller with auto shut-off that senses irregular current or pressure drops when water runs low We can guide you based on your water test or visual signs like staining or grit in filters.
-
9. Can I reuse existing piping or tanks?Absolutely. Let us know what size pipes you have in place (e.g., 25mm, 40mm). If pressure tanks, filters, or controllers already exist, we’ll factor those in and avoid unnecessary duplication.
-
10. What is total dynamic head (TDH) and why does it matter?TDH = Borehole depth + vertical lift + friction loss This value tells us how much pressure the pump must handle from the water source to the point of use or tank. We can calculate this for you with a few details like pipe length, elevation, and fittings.
-
11. Can you help if I don’t have all this info yet?Definitely. Just send us what you know. Even rough estimates of borehole depth and distance to your tank help us give you a realistic pump recommendation. 📩 Contact us here
-
12. What’s the best borehole pump for solar systems? We often recommend the Vega 3HRI solar borehole pump or the 4" hybrid solar borehole pump, depending on your application. These pumps are efficient, durable, and solar-ready. Ask us about solar kits and controllers to complete the system.
-
13. Do borehole pumps come with protection or automation?Yes. We highly recommend pairing your pump with an auto borehole pump controller that provides: Dry-run protection Overload sensing Underload sensing Auto restart delay Auto Level Control Pressure Switch Input This protects your pump from running dry or electrical surges, especially in areas with variable borehole levels.
-
14. How can I request a quote or recommendation?Send us a message with the info you have (depth, usage, distance). Our team will recommend a complete pump system tailored to your needs. Contact or WhatsApp us directly, or fill out our Contact Form .
